Important Announcement from Limestone Charter Association

Limestone Charter Association Superintendent, Mrs. Angel Malone, has released a statement regarding the closure of Limestone University.  This closure will have no effect on Goucher Charter Academy.  We are continuing to move forward with LCA and excited for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year!

Dear Friends,

It is hard to believe how close we are to finishing another successful school year. We remain grateful for the students, family, and educators - and the progress our students continue to make and the achievements we watch them reach each day - as they keep us motivated to work hard day in and out. On a personal note, I want to thank you for the sacrifices you have made during the school year. Your work is a huge part of what makes us special.

As you know, we are focused, and we look forward to continuing our collaborative work with lawmakers, educators, and, especially, students and families heading into the next school year. This work makes our schools, and therefore our students, stronger and better prepared.

While we are disappointed by the news of plans to close Limestone University, we are working with the Department of Education and lawmakers to ensure our schools are ready for the summer planning period and another successful school year. We are a separate nonprofit entity, we remain solvent, and we are taking action to make certain there are no interruptions in operations at our schools.

Please keep in mind what is most important: serving and empowering our community of students. For me, and for you, this is the entire reason we get up every morning. Our students are the brightest and most inspiring in South Carolina, and they deserve the very best education opportunities available. As we have said before, nothing announced by Limestone University changes our plans to serve our schools - just as we have been since we started in 2021.

In the days and weeks ahead, you may have questions. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly with any questions.

Sincerely,

Angel H. Malone

Superintendent
