What is an eLearning Day? On eLearning Days, students and teachers do not report to school, but will complete classroom activities using technology. eLearning days are used for temporary, unforeseen school closures, like inclement weather or school building power outages.
How and when will students and parents know if an eLearning Day will take place? We will communicate school cancellations and the announcement of an eLearning Day through phone calls, school website, social media (Facebook), and local media. We will communicate cancellations as soon as it is reasonable to do so.
How will students be informed about assignments during an eLearning Day? Teachers will post assignments to the student's learning platform (K5-3rd Grade: Seesaw 4th-8th Grade: Schoology) by 9:00 AM on an eLearning Day. Students can access their learning platforms directly or through Clever.
How will students get help on their assignments on an eLearning Day? Teachers will be available through the learning platform and email, which is listed on the school website.
How much school work will students be required to accomplish? We will not overload students with busy work but will provide meaningful learning activities related to their current unit of study. Assignments should take a reasonable amount of time to complete when on task.
When will assignments be due? As students complete their work, they should upload assignments if Wi-Fi is available. If an internet connection is not available, they will have up to 5 school days after the last school cancellation to turn in their assigned work.
How will attendance and grading work? All students will initially be counted as present on the eLearning Day. However, if the assigned work is not completed and submitted within the 5-day grace period, the student must be coded as absent on the day that school was cancelled. Since their assignments are just like any others, failure to do their work will be grades in accordance with the teacher's grading policy.
Do students with identified special learning needs have an alternative means to access their education on eLearning Days? Yes, individualized supports, services and accommodations appropriate for the eLearning environment are provided as needed for students with disabilities and English Learners. These supports may vary based on the needs of the individual student.
What about my child that does not have a device at home? In some instances, students may be given devices to take home for eLearning. However, if devices are not sent home, activities will be sent home with students and/or posted to the student's learning platform to complete. Students will be able to submit these assignments through the 3-day grace period.
Students that do not have individually assigned devices, will have paper activities sent home. In any case, assignments will be posted to Seesaw and Schoology, and students will have through the 5 day grace period to complete them.
